How can you go through the holiday season without watching at least one Christmas-themed film?
Last night Meg and I watched National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. It’s been years since I last saw the film, and it still holds up as a classic. There are a lot of Christmas films that don’t hold up and appear incredibly dated, but there’s something about this film that can withstand the test of time.
It’s strange watching Chevy Chase in this film after watching so many episodes of Community. I really feel like there is some sort of alternate timeline where Chevy Chase is still remarkably famous, which prevented him from becoming Community-crazy. His comedic timing and acting in this film is outstanding, absolutely top notch - and now he’s the cranky, racist, old man from Community.
If you’re still trying to get in the Christmas spirit, pop this film on. It’ll always be one of my favourites.
