John Mulaney is one of the writers on Saturday Night Live, and he’s really funny. I first caught him when he did a guest appearance on SNL’s Weekend Update (which was basically a platform for him to do stand up comedy). I remember saying to Meg that I thought he was hilarious but completely forgot all about it and never looked him up.
When I had read that he had a new special out - “New In Town”, I had to see it and I wasn’t overly surprised that it was just as funny as his segment on Weekend Update. It was sharp and witty but for some reason the whole thing really resonated with me. It was funny on a lot of different levels, and you should get out there and watch it because the world needs comedians who are actually funny to write for shows (and less comedians who aren’t *cough* Chelsea Handler *cough*).

Almost three years after its first broadcast, Ras Trent by The Lonely Island finally officially makes it to YouTube.

I had heard really good things about Bridesmaids. Meg saw it in theatres with her friend and I stayed at home. I wasn’t overly interested in the film. The trailer seemed really funny but I had a feeling the film would feel more like a female version of The Hangover. I was definitely right.
It was a great film, really funny and Kristen Wiig did a great job in her first leading role. I’ve always loved her on SNL and really feel like she’s one of the only female comedians out there that I actually enjoy watching. I feel like SNL tends to pigeon hole her into very specific character types that constantly get used over and over again and I just want to see her do something different. The only problem with her character in Bridesmaids was that the character itself was horrible. I hated her with a passion. Everything fell apart in her life and she refused to pick up and move on. She felt sorry for herself the entire film and complained the entire way. I’m not agreeing that the things that were being done to her were “right” at all. She was being treated like dirt, but she almost never stood up for herself or spoke her mind. It was incredibly annoying.
I realize that this is a very specific thing to be peeved about in a film, but it really irked me. The supporting cast was outstanding - every single character was perfect and the lines given to them were outrageous but great. The only thing I wish is that they capitalized on using Tim Heidecker as the fiancé of Maya Rudolph’s character. If you’re going to cast Tim Heidecker (of Tim and Eric fame), you need to give him more than the “I Do” line at the end of the film.
Other than that, it was a good flick and I recommend seeing it!

After years of looking around for this Digital Short on Youtube, it finally becomes viewable on SNL’s website for International audiences! So, for all those times I told everyone about this digital short, and I had no way of showing you it without error messages - here it is!

/4 and a half year search

EDIT: Of course something like this would happen. NBC made more changes to the digital short databank and everything got switched over. You can view the video here:
