My search for interesting podcasts continues as I commute. Even though I take time to read, I still spend the majority of my commute listening to other people talk.
The most recent addition to my podcast playlist is “How Did This Get Made” - a show hosted by Paul Sheer, June Diane Raphael and Jason Mantzoukas. In each episode they pick a ridiculously horrible film and spend roughly 40 minutes making fun of it. They’ve covered everything from “Leprechaun in the Hood” to “Fast Five” and everything in between (like Gigli, and almost everything Nick Cage has done). I’ve found that the episodes where they’ve talked about films I’ve actually seen are substantially funnier than the ones I haven’t.
I would definitely recommend checking out the following episodes, which I’ve really enjoyed:
Burlesque
Old Dogs
All About Steve
Fast Five
The Love Guru
I Know Who Killed Me
Get on it!

Paper Heart is a pretty heartwarming docu-drama that features a mixture of reality with storytelling that I really wanted to see when it was in it’s “limited release” in theatres. It was the type of film that the Upper James cinemas use to carry before they were shut down to make way for bigger/better SilverCity theatres.
Michael Cera is playing the same old thing he always does, but I’m fine with that because the film itself was enjoyable. Charlyne Yi does a pretty good job as well, it was surprising to see that she had a personality other than the giggling stoner in Knocked Up.
Very quirky and fun, couple of great bonus features as well. Definitely worth a watch if you like documentaries or: Seth Rogen, Bill Hader, Paul Sheer, Rob Huebel, Demetri Martin, or a fistful of other comedians that have permeated our comedies for the past couple years.
