Merry Christmas everyone! Looking forward to the new Doctor Who Christmas special tonight :D

How can you go through the holiday season without watching at least one Christmas-themed film?
Last night Meg and I watched National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. It’s been years since I last saw the film, and it still holds up as a classic. There are a lot of Christmas films that don’t hold up and appear incredibly dated, but there’s something about this film that can withstand the test of time.
It’s strange watching Chevy Chase in this film after watching so many episodes of Community. I really feel like there is some sort of alternate timeline where Chevy Chase is still remarkably famous, which prevented him from becoming Community-crazy. His comedic timing and acting in this film is outstanding, absolutely top notch - and now he’s the cranky, racist, old man from Community.
If you’re still trying to get in the Christmas spirit, pop this film on. It’ll always be one of my favourites.

Update

I’m slowly working on some reviews for the near future: I saw Tron: Legacy in theatres recently, and watched Resident Evil: Afterlife this past weekend (out today), so I’ll have full reviews on them very soon. I received a significant haul of Blu-rays and some DVDs this Christmas and will be getting around to reviewing them as I watch them.

Today the family is going to Toronto to do some shopping so I’ll see if I can grab anything that interests me at the Eaton Centre. Until then though, stay tuned for tomorrow’s post which will probably be far more exciting than this one.
