I have been meaning to review Black Swan for some time now. I saw it a couple weeks ago and have been desperately trying to figure out how to review it without either giving away major plot points, or finding the right words to describe how absolutely messed up it is. Like Darren Aronofsky’s other films (Requiem for a Dream, Pi, and The Fountain), it is dark and twisted and compelling.
It’s a brilliant film of determination and drive, mixed in with some of the most startling visuals I’ve seen in a while. I have a bit of a hard time trying to think of how else to put it…it is graphic and it never lost my attention. Natalie Portman did an excellent job.
I really think it’s worth checking out, it’s bound to be nominated for multiple Oscars and deserves to win them.
