I had always wanted to see “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”. The 1978 film is iconic and apparently one of the most interesting horror films of the late 70’s. Meg loves horror films and I knew that we should eventually see it despite being most likely another typical slow horror film with very little pay off. She picked it up at Best Buy a couple weeks back for under $10 and we watched it shortly after that (despite her falling asleep 40 minutes into the first viewing).
It ended up being really well done. The effects were pretty compelling and although it did drag on at some points in the film it was really interesting. Donald Sutherland and Jeff Goldblum were the best parts of the film (I’d include Leonard Nimoy too, but he had far too little screen time) and although they were incredibly young, sold their roles pretty convincingly. It is a fairly cheesy film though, and some parts were pretty ridiculous (including a dog with a man’s head…), but overall I thought it was a great watch. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t yet!
